CNG load shedding long queues on CNG stations
Punjab govt have announced no CNG Load Shedding on days of Eid al-Fitr 2014. CNG will remain continuously open from 6 am Monday 28 july to 6 am Friday 2 July. According to Punjab government this special schedule for CNG load shedding on eid days is devised to facilitate people traveling to their hometowns inside Pakistan.

Government of Pakistan have announced that there will be no CNG load shedding on Eid al-Adha 2014, so people can move to their hometowns and back easily using the cheap alternate fuel. The Gasoline or Petrol is normally unaffordable in Pakistan due to above 40% taxes on it. Specially on such occasions when l0ng journeys back to hometowns have to be made by masses, their first preference will be low cost fuel like CNG, which by the way is only low cost fuel available to masses in Pakistan.
Different types of rumors are floating in the minds of Pakistani public about the causes behind the CNG load shedding and CNG crisis, one of them is that Pakistani governments receives the commision on buying petrol and also government wants to distract public’s attention from its policies, it is also believed that this CNG crisis is created to inflate its prices.
CNG stations already opened on Friday the 3rd of October 2o14 and will remain open till the end of Eid Holidays which is Thursday, 9th of October, 2014. Punjab is the province in which CNG load shedding is most severe, only two days a week CNG is available to Pakistani people. But now after this announcement People of Punjab including the Potohar Region will also enjoy almost one week of CNG availability.ABSTRACT People of Pakistan are facing a number of problems due to CNG load shedding. This study investigated the consequences of energy on routines of people and also on social and economic performance of people. Primary data has been collected by conducting video recorded interviews and comment based interviews from twin cities i.e. Islamabad and Rawalpindi of Pakistan. The sample of study includes students, housewives, businessmen and professional workers who are affecting by this CNG shortage. This study focuses on relationship between CNG shortage and its effect on daily routine life and performance of people. It also focuses on psychological issues as well as the economic issues that are caused due to this shortage. This study utilizes in depth semi structured interviews to conduct the qualitative study. N-Vivo 10 is used as tool of data analysis. The CNG shortage in Pakistan caused many critical issues like unemployment, decrease in export contracts and commodities prices are increasing due to this shortage. Less working hours, lack of social and family gathering, increase in work load, depression and anxiety are results caused by CNG shortage. It is concluded that CNG shortage has bad impact on people’s lives and on their overall performance. According to a statement issued by the Sui Southern Gas Company, the CNG filling stations across Sindh will now be closed on Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 am for 24 hours.
Following the issuance of new schedule by the SSGC, All Pakistan CNG Association has withdrew the strike call while the Karachi Transport Ittehad has also announced not to observe strike on Thursday that was earlier called to support the CNG Association’s demands.
Earlier, the CNG stations were scheduled to reopen on Thursday.
The closure of CNG, a low lost fuel used by thousands of private vehicles and 80 percent passenger buses, increases the difficulties of commuters, mostly those who travel by public transport.
During the CNG-less days, the transporters run fewer buses which add to the hardships of students, office goers, daily wagers and others, as they are already facing difficulties due to inadequate and insufficient number of public transport.
So technically along with two CNG load shedding days getting the gas for the vehicle on the day before and day after are also very much difficult and waiting in long queues is mandatory for that.
