Welcome to Graduate Distance Learning in Petroleum Engineering
The Master of Petroleum Engineering is designed for graduates of a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent in a discipline other than petroleum engineering. The program is suited to students who wish to gain a petroleum engineering qualification and enter the exploration and production (upstream) part of the petroleum industry.
It is also aimed at petro-technical professionals already working in the upstream petroleum industry who wish to advance their technical careers in petroleum engineering by achieving a formal qualification. Individuals with a relevant science degree (in areas such as geology, geophysics, geosciences or physics) who have more than one year upstream petroleum industry experience may also be eligible for, and benefit from, this degree.
A key feature of the petroleum engineering programs at the University of Adelaide is the modern curriculum, integrating core petroleum engineering with geosciences and management, leading to a skill set that meets the needs of industry and complements the way it operates.
In order to expand our research program and to allow Masters students to take a research project, the Master of Science Petroleum Engineering program is offered to students who demonstrate the capacity to perform original research. This means an additional semester encompassing an industrial research project and thesis.
